The fifth time proved to be a charm for 1996 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Huck Seed who won the 2009 National Heads-Up Poker Championship. Seed took out Jonathan Little, Gus Hansen, Glen Chorny, David Oppenheim, Sam Farha and Vanessa Rousso on the way to the title. He was matched up against Rousso in the best of three final and won 2-0.
The L.A. Poker Classic recently completed their main event and Cornel Cimpan took home the title, winning almost $1.7 million dollars. Cimpan started the final table 5th in chips but was able to steadily move up the ladder. Professional poker player Chris Ferguson was the big name at the final table but he finished in 6th place, winning $240,538. Pat Walsh was next to go, followed by Chris Karagulleyan.
The Aussie Millions Poker Championship main event is in the books and Australian Stewart Scott is the champion. He bested a field of 681 players to win the $2 million (AUD) first place prize in the Aussie Millions. The final table took more than 12 hours to complete and when it finally got down to heads-up play, Scott got his pocket aces to hold up against Peter Rho’s Ace-Jack and the Aussie Millions was over.
